Product description
These newly coopered 50L Chestnut barrels are also available in sizes from 30 litres up to 100 litres. They can be easily filled via the wooden bung visible on the bilge of the barrel.
Hand coopered in the traditional way with staves bent over a fire and lightly toasted.
Coopered from oak or chestnut with galvanised steel hoops they are great for storing large quantities of cider, beer or wine. They make an ideal present for the home brewer or wine maker.
Wine and cider develops a sweeter taste when stored in chestnut and white wine tends to develop a rosé tinge. The influence of oak on wine or cider creates a stronger, deeper flavour.
Tap Options These barrels can be purchased with a 7" wooden barrel tap.
Order with an unfitted 7" wooden tap @ +£6.50
Order with a 7" wooden tap fitted to side of barrel (barrels stands on end) @ +£6.99
Order with a 7" wooden tap fitted to end of barrel (barrel lies on side) @ +£6.99
Please note the taps are not suitable for pressurised drinks such as beer and cider . The tap is fitted by simply hammering in into a hole in the barrel that is 1" in diameter. The barrel tap can be purchased unfitted. This gives you the flexibility to drill a 1" hole at your chosen position on the barrel. It can also be purchased fitted (hole pre-drilled). When purchased fitted there is a choice of location. It can either be positioned on the side of the barrel, which is suitable for use with barrel standing on its end as shown in the above photograph. The alternative position is in the end of the barrel and this is suitable for use with barrel lying on its side
